DESCRIPTION:So often the demands of life affect our ability to practice patience and deep listening with our children\, which can impact the quality of the parent/child relationship. This inattention can contribute to frustration and confusion for both parent and child. By identifying reactive patterns and exploring options for attending to the unplanned stressors in our lives\, we can improve our ability to respond skillfully to our own needs and the needs of our children. \nThis two-day core skills training introduces participants to the foundations of Mindfulness & Self-Compassion in the context of parenting. In addition\, the adolescent brain and its role in preparing a teen for life\, along with ways to redirect the attention of a child in the midst of a tantrum will be discussed. Participants will explore methods for cultivating emotional resilience\, kindness and compassion in their children. SUMMARY:San Diego Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis
DESCRIPTION:In honor of our patients affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease\, Coast Pediatrics would like to encourage all families to participate in a fun\, family friendly fundraiser for this very important cause. \nCCFA’s Take Steps walks offer a wonderful day for family\, friends and the community to celebrate all of the efforts that have been put forth in raising funds towards CCFA’s mission.  The walk events are filled with live music\, food\, kids’ entertainment\, educational materials\, and\, of course\, wonderful exposure for corporate partners. \nTake Steps for Crohn’s & colitis is a family friendly community walk dedicated to raising awareness and mission-critical funds for cures for digestive diseases.  In the past five years alone\, CCFA has succeeded in bringing together over 100\,000 people and raised close to $40 million to help further their mission. \nParticipation in the event is free\, however any and all donations are welcome. \n80 cents of every dollar raised goes towards breakthrough research\, public and professional education\, and patient support services in communities across the nation.

DESCRIPTION:If you would like MORE peace\, calm and cooperation within your family as well as LESS arguing\, yelling\, fighting and power struggles\, then this course is for you! \n  \nRedirecting Children’s Behavior (RCB) is the popular and internationally recognized course that teaches parents how to raise confident\, self-motivated and responsible children. \nThe RCB course atmosphere is fun\, supportive and non-judgmental.  Through four\, 2 ½ hour sessions\, you’ll learn effective ways to become calmer and more confident and to raise your children to be responsible\, respectful and cooperative.  You’ll discuss positive parenting techniques that will enable you to redirect your children’s behavior through loving guidance rather than ineffective punishment. \nBy learning how to use positive discipline tools\, you’ll be able to increase “listening\,” build self-esteem and strengthen relationships within your family. \nClasses will take place at Coast Pediatrics Del Mar on Thursday evenings\, October 2\, 9\, 16 and 23 6:30-9:00 pm.  Cost is $150/person\, $250/couple\, plus $30 for course materials – book and workbooks. \nClass size is limited\, so please register early.  Note that this is a “parents only event”; no children please.

DESCRIPTION:The American Lung Association in California Southern California Asthma Management Program (SCAMP) Camp is a weeklong overnight summer camp for kids between the ages of 8-13 living with asthma.  Most summer camps cannot accept children with asthma due to the severity of their condition\, which is why SCAMP Camp is so important.  SCAMP Camp provides children with moderate to severe asthma the unique opportunity to attend summer camp and learn how to better self-manage their asthma. \nThe American Lung Association in California sends up to 200 kids throughout Southern California to SCAMP Camp each year\, where they learn how to better manage their asthma while enjoying traditional camp activities like hiking\, swimming\, arts and crafts\, archery and wall climbing. \nPhysicians\, registered nurses\, respiratory therapists\, and other health professionals provide 24-hour medical care throughout the week-long camp. \n2014 Camp Dates \nSunday\, June 22 – Friday\, June 27\, 2014 \nCamp Location and Transportation \nSCAMP Camp is located in Julian\, California (San Diego County) \nTransportation to and from camp is provided from: \n\nAnaheim – for Los Angeles and Orange Counties\nSan Bernardino – for Riverside and San Bernardino Counties\nSan Diego – for San Diego and Imperial Counties\n\nDeparture and return times vary by location. \nApplication Requirements \n1. Children must be 8-13 years old at the time of camp and told they have asthma by a doctor. \n2. Must complete and submit an application by Friday\, May 9\, 2014. \n3. DESCRIPTION:In honor of our patients affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease\, Coast Pediatrics would like to encourage all families to participate in a fun\, family friendly fundraiser for this very important cause. \nCCFA’s Take Steps walks offer a wonderful day for family\, friends and the community to celebrate all of the efforts that have been put forth in raising funds towards CCFA’s mission.  The walk events are filled with live music\, food\, kids’ entertainment\, educational materials\, and\, of course\, wonderful exposure for corporate partners. \nTake Steps for Crohn’s & colitis is a family friendly community walk dedicated to raising awareness and mission-critical funds for cures for digestive diseases.  In the past five years alone\, CCFA has succeeded in bringing together over 100\,000 people and raised close to $40 million to help further their mission. \nParticipation in the event is free\, however any and all donations are welcome. \n80 cents of every dollar raised goes towards breakthrough research\, public and professional education\, and patient support services in communities across the nation.
