DESCRIPTION:Rady Children’s Hospital Healthy Development Serves is offering a FREE 4-hour parenting seminar in their new North County location in Torrey Hills!  This course\, entitled “Steps to Understanding Your Child’s Behavior”\, will be taught by various developmental and behavioral faculty\, and will cover the following topics: \n\n Understanding Development & Temperament\n\nYour child is developing and growing so fast. You will learn about your child’s development and how your child’s development relates to his behavior. Also\, you will learn about temperament\, or how he responds to his environment and other people. \n\n Encouraging Self-regulation\, Morality\, and Sense of Conscience\n\nYour child needs help learning rules and routines. You will learn how discipline teaches your child self-control\, family values\, and how to use both as s/he grows. Strategies include setting limits\, consequences\, routines\, rules\, family communication\, and appropriate choices for children. \n\n Developing Body Control and a Positive Body Image\n\nYour child is learning what her body can do. You will learn how to implement routines and consistency to support her growth. You will talk about how you can encourage her to learn through her body and senses. \n\n Developing a Secure Attachment\n\nYour relationship with your child provides a foundation for all of the relationships in his life. In this class\, you will learn about how you can develop a happy and healthy relationship with your child. \n\n Encouraging Language and Communication\n\nYour child begins to communicate from the day she is born. Your child communicates to get her needs met. If your child cannot communicate\, she is more likely to feel frustrated and act out.
